The Roma, a culture and European cultural heritage
Saturday April 8th
3 pm to 10 pm, at Halle Tropisme, 121 rue Fontcouverte, Montpellier
open to all – free

on the program:

  • 11am: official commemoration, in the gardens of Montpellier town hall, in front of the Stèle des Justes, in the presence of leaders of Gypsy cultural and defense associations, Cimade, officials and elected representatives, who will speak.

animations, exhibitions, screenings, conferences, dance shows, gastronomy, concerts at the Halle tropisme :

  • 3 pm: Paul Guta Family, gypsy music
  • 4 p.m.: projection/lecture on gypsies and music: a diversity of music and highly talented artists
  • 5:30 p.m.: dance performance by the “El sol de Espana” company
  • 6:30 pm: “Los Kémados”, Gipsy pop
  • 9 p.m.: “Los Graciosos” and “Miliu Calabuch”, heir to the Catalan rumba of “Péret”.

Gypsies, a European culture and cultural heritage The purpose of this official day is to celebrate and highlight the Roma culture, but also to remember all the discrimination this population has suffered for centuries up to the present day, and to commemorate the victims of the Roma genocide during World War II.
