  • Tuesday, September 12
    Launch of the operation with a lecture by Arzhel Prioul and Mathieu Tremblin at 6:30pm at ENSAM (Anphi 1).
    At the same time, white cards will be sent to around fifty artists, and the following day two groups of ENSAM students from Sète and Montpellier will scout the billboards.
  • In October, once the completed boxes had been returned, the students reproduced them to scale.
  • Wednesday, November 22 at 9 a.m.
    All the posters collaged will be listed and located on an online digital map, and then published in the form of a publication featuring an account of the poster collage experience.

The title of the project is the number of the article in the Environmental Code that guarantees freedom of expression in the public space, by requiring the provision of public display panels.
Two artists, Arzhel Prioul and Mathieu Tremblin, propose a protocol for taking over these free billboards by sending postcards in the form of carte blanche to other artists. After identifying the appropriate panels and contexts for the works, the completed cards are then reproduced to scale and displayed. The public space is altered, but it’s a very ephemeral art form, since anyone can cover these panels freely.

Exhibition “NACHAVE!

LineUP continues its collaboration with the Ville de Lunel and the Communauté de Communes du Pays de Lunel to bring you “NACHAVE!”, an exhibition by artists ADOR and MARA, as part of Montpellier’s bid to become European Capital of Culture 2028. This humorous and sarcastic exhibition takes as its starting point one of the themes proposed by Montpellier 2028: trans. A highly topical term, and a symbol of a changing society, artists have seized upon it to deliver multiple interpretations, for young and old alike. Their worlds, sometimes with a touch of cynicism, tell the story of life and our world in transition.

The LineUP Urban Art project makes a stop at the media library! Hip-Hop dance workshop by the Soudures Urbaines association.
This workshop introduces young people to breakdance. The workshop begins with a theoretical section,
followed by warm-ups. Next, the youngsters will discover basic techniques such as toprock (breakdance),
footwork (breakdancing on the floor) and freeze (stopping the music).

From September 12 to 23, artists Elisa Capdevila (Spain) and Zoer (France) will be dressing the tanks in keeping with the theme of “the water that connects us”, one of the key themes of the second call for projects launched by Montpellier 2028 as part of the city’s bid to become European Capital of Culture.
We are keen to highlight the European dimension of this bid, as well as the European influence of the cultural initiatives undertaken in the region, by inviting a French artist on the one hand, and a Spanish artist on the other. In addition to respecting the theme, we felt it was crucial to give this project the scope to match Montpellier’s bid.

The objective of Ademass: to develop a project that respects cultural rights and includes the poorer districts. The potluck-style “artistic banquets”, originally a pretext to get out and meet people, have become the very point of this grand narrative in the making. At the dawn of urgently needed environmental, economic and social change and at a time when the poorer districts are bearing the full brunt of crises, the cultural sector must, more than ever, be the means for uniting people and fostering the emergence of shared narratives.

« Favoriser une ville non seulement plus vivable (soutenable et hospitalière), mais aussi plus vivante (animée et démocratique) et vibrante (désirable et inspirante) : voilà l’enjeu de l’urbanisme culturel ! Observer, penser, imaginer et transformer la ville avec celles et ceux qui y vivent, des plus jeunes aux plus âgés, mais aussi avec des artistes et des acteurs culturels, en liant toujours les deux dimensions de l’urbanité, spatiale et sociale : voilà la méthode de l’urbanisme culturel ! ».

Pour Montpellier 2028, LineUP s’associe à la Ville de Lunel ainsi qu’à la Communauté de Communes du Pays de Lunel pour proposer un événement en deux parties : une première double exposition aura lieu à l’Espace Feuillade à Lunel, entre le 7 octobre et le 19 novembre 2022. Avec pour thème le lettrage et la calligraphie dans l’art urbain, cet événement imaginé par les artistes Nasty et No Luck fera écho à l’exposition « Quels caractères ! » visible au musée Médard.
La seconde partie consiste en une exposition itinérante dans trois lieux de
la Communauté de Communes du Pays de Lunel : le château de Marsillargues,
le château de Boisseron et l’Orangerie de Lunel-Viel, du 7 novembre au 17 décembre 2022. Ces lieux prestigieux accueilleront un ensemble d’œuvres urbaines et contemporaines réalisées par huit artistes du territoire : Adec, Mara, Asto, Bella, Noon, Siou, Ose, Salamech.

Des artistes qui portent haut et fort l’innovation afin de rendre la culture à toutes et tous. Flamenco, jazz, musiques du monde, rock, folk, blues et autres musiques actuelles seront déployés pendant un mois pour contribuer à la singularité de notre ville.
