Launch of the operation with a lecture by Arzhel Prioul and Mathieu Tremblin at 6:30pm at ENSAM (Anphi 1).
At the same time, white cards will be sent to around fifty artists, and the following day two groups of ENSAM students from Sète and Montpellier will scout the billboards.
In October, once the completed boxes had been returned, the students reproduced them to scale.

All the posters collaged will be listed and located on an online digital map, and then published in the form of a publication featuring an account of the poster collage experience.

The title of the project is the number of the article in the Environmental Code that guarantees freedom of expression in the public space, by requiring the provision of public display panels.
Two artists, Arzhel Prioul and Mathieu Tremblin, propose a protocol for taking over these free billboards by sending postcards in the form of carte blanche to other artists. After identifying the appropriate panels and contexts for the works, the completed cards are then reproduced to scale and displayed. The public space is altered, but it’s a very ephemeral art form, since anyone can cover these panels freely.

Research and creation residency
in Sète and Montpellier, aimed at graphic designers, researchers in language and communication sciences, theorists, historians and curators specializing in the fields of graphic design, visual culture and popular culture, around several collections of citrus fruit wrapping paper.
The prize-winner will develop his/her approach with a view to publication, and will support specific mediation and promotion initiatives.

The residency project

Orange wrappers were part of the popular cultural heritage of the 20th century. They were produced into the 1980s, when the use of fungicides and wax caused them to fall into disuse.
In 2022, Pascal Casson donated his collection of nearly 20,000 orange wrappers to MIAM. In 2023, this collection was presented as part of the “Modestes et Appliqués” exhibition, co-produced by MIAM and La Fenêtre, who now intend to showcase this exceptional collection once again as part of a research and creative residency aimed at continuing and extending the conceptual approach initiated by Hervé di Rosa and MIAM, while at the same time contributing to the current dynamic development of graphic design research.

Jury: The jury will deliberate during the second half of October 2023. It will be made up of representatives from MIAM, La Fenêtre and invited experts. Following the jury, successful candidates will be notified immediately by telephone. Other candidates will be notified by e-mail.

An innovative “artistic factory” run by ADPEP34, La Bulle Bleue has worked to promote the employability of actors and stage technicians since 2012. With La Tempête et Le Songe d’une nuit d’été [such stuff as dreams],[such stuff as dreams] a free adaptation from Shakespeare performed by 21 actors of diverse backgrounds, coproduced by Théâtre des 13 Vents-CDN in Montpellier and Le Printemps des Comédiens drama festival, Marie Lamachère (Interstices) and La Bulle Bleue make diversity a fact on stage. Two performances of European stature dedicated to the professional integration of artistes with disabilities are scheduled for 9 and 10 June.

This summer, Les Muses en Dialogue invite you to the first edition of Au fil de l’Hérault, an ephemeral festival in 2 parts, the first musical part of which is signed by two local artists: Margaux Blanchard & Sylvain Sartre, co-artistic directors of the ensemble Les Ombres.
From July 10 to 13, 2023, (re)discover the Hérault river and our region: from the majestic vineyards of Pic Saint-Loup to Grau d’Agde, via the Hérault gorges and Causse-de-la-Selle.
4 days where heritage sites, vine culture, terroirs and early music come together in acoustic siestas, tours, concerts, wine-tasting workshops and nature walks.

A series of immersive, participatory astro-musical lectures for the general public.

Captives of our over-lit cities, we’ve lost direct contact with the Universe, with the starry sky.

To renew this lost link, we’re offering a series of 4 astro-musical lectures in which the scientific narrative (by Vincent Guillet, astrophysicist, University of Montpellier) is accompanied by a quartet of musicians led by drummer and composer Arnaud Le Meur. In this lecture staged by Aurélie Namur, astrophysics and music exchange and play, to let you feel the dynamics at work in the Universe.

Our common thread on this journey? The 4 seasons – Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter – so characteristic of the European art of living. Three of these evenings will be outdoors, allowing you to contemplate the celestial vault, and one, Winter, indoors.

Each season will have its own musical composition, its own quartet, its own scientific narrative, and its own color. This red thread will enable us to rediscover the evolution of the sky over the course of the year, and to revisit the history of the Universe, in music, with a poetic and philosophical approach.

The story, which is free of mathematical formulas but makes great use of analogies drawn from everyday life, will be illustrated on screen with astronomical images taken by the largest telescopes, as well as live images of the Milky Way taken by a digital telescope. Telescope observation will also be offered by the Association Sétoise d’Astronomie dans le Pays de Thau: observation of the Moon and planets before the show, observation of the deep sky after the show.

Time for the Feast of the Dead (Martror)! The potluck-style “artistic banquets”, originally a pretext to get out and meet people, have become the very point of this grand narrative in the making. Following an initial survey phase in autumn 2022 (ÉCOUTEZ-LEZ), BIPOLAR proposes a collective mediation between residents and their river. This (RASSEMBLEZ-LEZ) is structured around the creation of a “negotiating committee” made up of some twenty volunteers attached to the river. Through a variety of learning experiences – technical, scientific and sensitive knowledge inputs (field visits, workshops, experience sharing) – its members seek to better understand the river and its own interests. Change perspective, build another relationship with the Lez to imagine and prototype a new form of sensitive water administration that takes into account the interests of the river and its environment. Along the way, the negotiating committee will experiment with assembly and council formats, in public and at local events.

Déambulations : À l’occasion de l’édition 2022 du festival Arabesques, Fanfaraï Street Band réinterprète les musiques du terroir maghrébin en mêlant des thèmes arabo-berbères, turcs ou arabo-andalous et des consonances afro-cubaines, latines ou jazz. À l’image de ses membres, leur répertoire est un étonnant mélange alliant cuivres et percussions, tradition et modernité, Sudistes et Nordistes avec cette volonté partagée, toujours vivace, de générer du lien. Chaque passage contribue à créer des moments forts de partage et de rencontres entre différentes communautés sociales, musicales et culturelles. De la scène à la rue il n’y a qu’un pas pour cet orchestre haut en couleurs qui offre alors un spectacle festif, énergisant et généreux.

Rencontre professionnelle : Arabesques invite des professionnels de la musique de la Région, de France, d’Europe et de pays arabes à s’interroger sur leur rôle face aux reflets politiques internationaux : montée des votes extrêmes, populisme, logiques nationalistes, guerres, révolutions, etc. Si la musique est un reflet sociétal, un outil de lutte sociale ou si elle influence notre quotidien, quel est le rôle des dénicheurs de talents ? Des Pyrénées Orientales à la Palestine, de la Tunisie à la Pologne, les intervenants proposeront un débat participatif sous forme d’afterwork pour créer du lien autour de nos pratiques. Discussion suivie d’un apéritif.

Le MIAM et La Fenêtre s’associent pour proposer, à Montpellier, d’octobre 2022 à février 2023, une exposition commune intitulée « Modestes et Appliqués ». Habituées des marges de la création académique, les deux entités proposent cette fois l’exploration d’un territoire qui leur est commun, aux confins des arts modestes et des arts appliqués. On parlera notamment d’architecture modeste ou de graphisme modeste en revenant sur les compagnonnages du MIAM avec Patrick Bouchain qui a conçu le bâtiment qui abrite le MIAM ou encore avec Etienne Robial, qui en a créé l’identité visuelle. L’occasion de découvrir ou re-découvrir certaines œuvres en collection au MIAM : villes oniriques, cartographie des arts et graphisme populaire… Le catalogue de l’exposition est paru aux éditions Banzaï.

Du lundi 12 au vendredi 30 décembre
Hôtel de Ville de Montpellier, salle Danièle Mitterrand.

De nombreuses images illustrent déjà la ville de Montpellier à travers ses monuments et sa culture. Avec l’exposition « Une autre vision de la ville”, le travail des photographes aura pour but de découvrir la ville autrement, ses espaces méconnus, ses habitantes et ses habitants…avec humour et jeux visuels.
Une exposition sera installée du 12 au 30 décembre dans le hall de l’Hôtel de Ville de Montpellier. Elle comprendra une trentaine d’images, dont l’installation jouera sur les formes et les jeux visuels des photographies.

Rue de l’Étoile Bleue s’articule autour d’un objet graphique : une carte papier de Montpellier réunissant une quarantaine de destinations photographiques et sonores.
En associant ses images à des noms de rue, le collectif Transit propose au public de découvrir, accrochés dans la ville, des extraits de son univers photographique. Des QR codes accompagnent les images et donnent accès en ligne à de courts récits documentaires ou fictionnels.
Avec cette déambulation « à la carte », Transit brouille les pistes, crée des passerelles géographiques, poétiques, métaphoriques, entre la photographie et le territoire de Montpellier.
